He smiled and told me he had just returned from Indonesia because he wanted to personally select a special collection of clothing that he believed would be perfect for women visiting and living on the island.

Arte Fango has always been one of my favorite places because of Jorge, its owner and artist. Years ago, his original art shack stood next to my aunt's home. It was a simple wooden studio that perfectly reflected his personality — humble, authentic, welcoming, and deeply connected to Culebra.

What I admire most about Jorge is the way he expresses his love for our island through his artwork. His paintings don't simply capture beautiful scenery; they preserve the people, history, and spirit of Culebra. One of my favorite pieces portrays Ramón Feliciano "Monchín," the former mayor who led Culebra's historic struggle against the United States Navy. He has also painted many of Culebra's beloved local characters, including Wiki, members of the Muñet family, and other island personalities who have become part of our community's story.

Every painting tells a story, and every visit to Arte Fango is an opportunity to take home a genuine piece of Culebra's culture. If you're looking for authentic local art created by someone who truly loves this island, I highly recommend visiting Arte Fango.
