Culebra's Beach of Camping Traditions

Punta Soldado is one of the beaches that best reflects Culebra's traditions, where generations of local families have gathered to celebrate, camp, and enjoy life by the sea.

For generations, it has been one of the island's favorite places for camping, especially during Holy Week.

A Tradition of Camping

For generations, Punta Soldado has been one of Culebra's most cherished camping destinations, where families have gathered to celebrate simple moments that became lifelong traditions.

Families returned year after year, spending weekends, holidays, and especially Holy Week surrounded by nature. Over time, these gatherings became cherished traditions, creating memories that have been passed down from one generation to the next.

The Two Sides of Punta Soldado

Like many of Culebra's beaches, Punta Soldado offers two distinct sides, each with its own unique character, scenery, and traditions.

The left side has traditionally been the gathering place for local families, where generations of Culebrenses have camped, shared meals around the barbecue, laughed together, and created memories that have lasted a lifetime.

At the far end, visitors will discover a quieter stretch of shoreline, where calm waters, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful coastal scenery create the perfect place to swim, unwind, and reconnect with nature.

Sargassum Considerations

During periods of heavy sargassum, the left side of Punta Soldado can be significantly affected. Large accumulations may create natural barriers along the shoreline and produce unpleasant odors as the seaweed decomposes. The far end of the beach is often less affected, allowing visitors to continue enjoying Punta Soldado even during seasonal sargassum events.

Road Conditions

The final stretch of the road leading to Punta Soldado remains unpaved, adding a sense of adventure before you even arrive at the beach.

After periods of heavy rain, ruts and uneven surfaces may develop, making a 4x4 vehicle the preferred option. Under normal conditions, however, most standard vehicles can reach the beach without difficulty.
